SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 40

(By Senators Mitchell, Redd, Hunter, Rowe, Snyder, Bailey, Unger,
Helmick, Fanning, Edgell, Minard, Prezioso, McCabe, Plymale,
Anderson, Sharpe, Ross, Love, Caldwell and Oliverio)
Requesting the Division of Highways place signs at each mile marker
going in either direction along a major route through West
Virginia naming 121 West Virginian soldiers who are missing in
action.
Whereas, The brave soldiers who defended our great nation and
were denied the right to a homecoming or a burial on home soil
deserve to be recognized by the citizens of our state; and
Whereas, It is a special heartache for the loved ones and
family members of a soldier who is missing in action since there is
no real closure for them; and
Whereas, Placing a tribute to each of these 121 West
Virginians along a well-traveled highway in the state would not
only honor their memories, but provide some solace to their
families and loved ones; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to place
signs at each mile marker going in either direction along a major
route through West Virginia naming 121 West Virginian soldiers who are missing in action; and, be it
Further Resolved, That each sign bear the name, hometown, war
in which the soldier participated and the words, "Missing in
Action"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby
directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Secretary of
Transportation and the families of these soldiers, if they can be
located.
